We’re thrilled to spotlight Joe Hodgetts, our Head of Product Delivery at Rubicon Bridge. Joe has been instrumental in shaping our software’s direction and ensuring seamless delivery, all while leading our incredible DevOps team with precision and energy.
At Rubicon Bridge, Joe plays a crucial role in coordinating efforts across multiple teams, ensuring alignment between short-term tasks and long-term strategic goals. His work requires constant collaboration with our Data and Regulatory teams to gather essential insights and customer feedback, ensuring our platform evolves to meet real-world needs. Agile development is at the heart of what we do, and Joe thrives in this fast-paced environment, spinning multiple plates at once to keep everything running smoothly within our continuous delivery pipeline.
One of Joe’s standout achievements has been the addition of our first set of ‘new countries’ to the platform. This project posed a critical decision: push out requirements quickly or completely refactor the codebase for long-term efficiency. Joe championed the latter approach, despite initial challenges in getting buy-in from the business. The result? A significant reduction in development time for future country additions, now down to just one day! The Data and Regs side…that’s another story!
Joe’s journey into product delivery and development has been anything but conventional. With a background in food quality and safety, primarily within Healthcare at Tesco, he quickly became drawn to optimising processes, eliminating repetitive tasks, and driving efficiency across teams. Software and coding became his tools of choice for achieving these goals, and as the rise of AI continues to transform industries, Joe remains at the forefront of innovation. Joining Rubicon, with its mission to turn manual, complex regulatory tasks into streamlined software solutions, was a natural fit for his passion and expertise.
What truly motivates Joe is problem-solving. He loves taking a challenge, breaking it down, and working with the DevOps team to bring solutions to life. His philosophy? If you can think of a way to solve a problem, you can get a computer to do it. Joe thrives on the camaraderie within his team, the shared goals, and the rewarding experience of seeing customers use the solutions they’ve built together.
Beyond managing product delivery, Joe enjoys rolling up his sleeves and coding when time allows. A prime example of this is our revamped Support page, once a clunky, outdated HTML block, now transformed into a sleek, searchable, article-based support hub. He even implemented an AI chatbot, Rubi, designed to scan and summarise articles based on user queries. This forward-thinking approach continues to enhance the user experience, and we can’t wait to see what he builds next.
Outside of work, Joe keeps himself busy with cooking, walking, and cycling. And in a surprising twist, he even has a background in the circus! While we haven’t yet seen any juggling acts in the office, his ability to balance multiple priorities with agility certainly speaks to his past training.
